2023 Weihnachtens (December 21, 2023)

Hello everyone!

Today, we bring you the news of the biggest day for all German Language and Literature students of the year,

and the final gathering of the year ― [2023 Weihnachtens]!

be movedchristmas tree

This year's Weihnachtens event was planned and organized by Professors Yanjina Bajramovic and Daniela Levine,

along with the 2023 student council, "Liten."

Since it was a collaborative effort, the decorations and each program,

including the photo booth, were thoughtfully designed and executed, which made it all the more appreciated.

The event proceeded according to the following schedule, and with a variety of activities and witty hosting, the 3 hours were filled with enjoyment:

1. Report on the student council's pledges and achievements of the year

It was a meaningful time to reflect on the footprints of the German Language and Literature students over the past year.

As we approached the end of 2023, it was wonderful to look back at the pledges made at the start of the year

and see how much had been accomplished and improved.

2. Recreation

A recreation session prepared with foreign professors―through a German language and culture quiz,

students were able to enrich their academic experience, strengthening their major knowledge.

During this time, we also exchanged cultural insights between Korea and Germany,

with local gifts from Germany as prizes, making it a fun and engaging experience!

3. Writing Christmas Stories

A time for writing Christmas stories was prepared, and during the event, selected stories were read by DJ Heesang,

with prizes given to the winners.

The variety of fun and touching stories made the Weihnachtens event even more enjoyable and meaningful!

4. Gift Exchange

Before the Weihnachtens event, a random gift exchange was organized where everyone prepared a gift reflecting their personality.

Participants were given a number, and the gift exchange took place.

Not knowing what gift they would receive added an extra layer of excitement to the event!

5. Break Time

During the short break, everyone enjoyed bread and drinks while interacting with one another.
It was a wonderful time to strengthen bonds and connect more deeply.

6. Talent Show
Finally, it was time for the talented performers of the department to shine!
There are many talented individuals among the students, and today was no exception.
The talent show was incredibly diverse, and once again,
we were all impressed by the amazing skills and creativity of our fellow department members.

7. Damian Project Award Ceremony

The Damian Project Award is an initiative that recognizes the growth of students throughout the 2023 academic year.
This project was introduced for the first time by the 2023 student council, Lytin.

It’s a project where students are awarded points based on the comparison of their qualifications, language test scores, and personal development before and after the year.

The awards are given to students who have shown outstanding self-improvement over the year.

Although not all students were able to participate in the inaugural year, those who did were dedicated to their personal development
and worked hard throughout the year, making this a particularly meaningful moment.

The project will continue in 2024, and it’s hoped that more students will join and grow together in the coming year.

8. Presentation of Appreciation Plaques and Gifts

This was a heartfelt surprise prepared by the students, and it was a very touching moment.

To show gratitude for the professors, instructors, and the department office who have worked hard throughout the 2023 academic year to create many meaningful and memorable moments for the department, the students presented appreciation plaques and gifts.

In 2024, we will continue to strive to create even more opportunities for everyone to grow and enjoy together.

9. Closing Remarks from the 2023 Student Council, and First Greetings from the 2024 Student Council F.V.G

(die Fachschaft von Germanistik)

The final segment was the farewell from the 2023 Student Council, Lieten,

followed by the first greetings from the new 2024 Student Council, F.V.G. With that, all the proceedings of the event were wrapped up.

It was a moment to reflect on how meaningful and grateful this time of year is for everyone involved.

Looking forward to creating more memorable moments with all the Germanistik students in the 2024 academic year.

Frohe Weihnachten!
