Hello everyone~
Today, I bring you the news of the [2024 German Speaking Contest], which was held again this year, following last year’s event~
This year's German Speaking Contest was held with pairs of two participants, each preparing a 5-minute skit based on their own unique free topics.
Many teams participated in the event again this year, allowing us to see a variety of skits on diverse topics, making it a truly valuable experience.
It was a time where we were once again amazed by the growth in the German language skills of the participants who took part last year and returned again this year.
With this in mind, it would be great if everyone could challenge themselves again in the next speaking contest without any hesitation.
All the participants this time worked so hard that it was impossible to pick a clear winner.
Among them, in the 2024 German Speaking Contest, students Seo Eunchae and Song Seonmin from the class of 2023 won the grand prize.
Their team, with the topic ‘Der Wert des Echten in einer trendbewussten Welt’ (The Value of the Real in a Trend-conscious World),
highlighted the appearance of people who have lost their individuality in a society obsessed with trends.
They aimed to deliver a message about the value of living a life that does not lose one’s true self amidst the pressures of modern society.
The team participated with a topic that could provide insight into the realization that maintaining one’s own personality and values, rather than succumbing to trends and societal pressure, is what truly defines style.
It seems like it was a very good topic that could resonate with many people in modern society.
Additionally, there were topics covering cultural differences between Korea and Germany, such as the Olympics, Korea’s Chuseok, and Germany’s Oktoberfest,
as well as topics addressing current social and political issues in Germany, such as the refugee accommodation situation and the educational and economic aspects needed to address it.
Other topics included finding accommodation during a study abroad period in Germany, environmental issues in Germany, and more.
The 2024 German Speaking Contest was successfully concluded with a wide range of topics.
It was truly a wonderful and meaningful experience, especially considering all the hard work put into preparation!
Everyone did an amazing job!
The speaking contest is not just for students who are fluent in German. Preparing for the German Speaking Contest is a great opportunity to practice speaking, and it is a step towards improving one’s speaking skills.
Even if you don’t perform perfectly, just trying your best and pushing yourself can be a valuable experience.
Let’s remember that and encourage more students to join the next speaking contest without hesitation!
