Hello everyone~
Today, I’m bringing you the news about [2024 Weinachten], the biggest day for German department members and the last event of the year,
where we all come together to celebrate!
This year's Weihnachten event was planned and organized by Instructor Daniela Levine and Instructor Christina,
along with the 2024 Student Council F.V.G (die Fachschaft von Germanistik).
Since it was planned together, we truly appreciated the careful attention given to each decoration and program for the photo booth,
and it felt like a thoughtful time.
This year's event was held in the student council room, and the space was beautifully decorated, creating a warm and festive Christmas atmosphere, making it a wonderful time.
The event followed the schedule below, and it was filled with various and amazing activities, making it an incredibly enjoyable time.
1. Student Council’s Fulfillment of Promises and Annual Achievements Report
It was a very meaningful time to reflect on the footsteps of German Studies students over the past year.
As we began 2024, the promises and plans made at the start of the year have been largely fulfilled, and as the year comes to a close,
many things have been achieved and improved, making this a year of remarkable success.
It was a grateful time to look back on the many accomplishments of the 2024 year.
Thanks to the efforts of all German Studies students in the class of 2024, we were able to make significant progress, and the bond among the department members has become even stronger.
I am truly thankful for that.
2. Recreation
A recreation time prepared with our foreign instructors~
We had a session where we read math problems in German and tried to solve them, and we also spent time writing letters to each other.
Additionally, we attached letters to the gifts we brought and, while listening to music, we passed the gifts around and exchanged them.
3. Damian Project Award Ceremony
The Damian Project Award was held again this year, following the previous academic year 2023.
This project awards students who have excelled in self-development over the course of the year by comparing qualifications and language scores before and after.
Even if a student does not acquire a certification, they can still be awarded based on the extracurricular program mileage they earned at school, so I hope even more students from the German department can participate in 2025.
4. Presentation of Appreciation Plaques and Gift Giving
This was a very thoughtful and surprising moment, prepared by the students.
Daniela, who has been with us since the 2023 academic year, and Kristina, who joined in 2024, are unfortunately leaving to return to Germany.
Although it’s sad, the appreciation plaque ceremony was a heartfelt way to express gratitude for all their contributions.
For the 2025 academic year, I hope everyone can grow and enjoy together, making meaningful moments with the new instructors who will join us.
5. Farewell Speech from the Student Council F.V.G (die Fachschaft von Germanistik) and Introduction of the New Student Council
The final part of the event was the farewell speech from the 2024 Student Council F.V.G, followed by the introduction of the new Student Council. This marked the end of the ceremony.
It was a moment to reflect on how meaningful and special the beginning and end of each year is for everyone.
I hope the 2025 Student Council will create even more meaningful moments of learning and growth for all of us.
Frohe Weihnachten
