" With a budget of 14 billion won, a databank for hydrogen ship technology will be established "
Hydrogen Ship Technology Center(Director Jae-Myung Lee, a Professor of Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering) has been appointed to oversee the development of "a big data platform for hydrogen ships" in Busan.
This project is part of the pilot program for the 'Construction of Southeast Region Hydrogen Port,' which was selected as a Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development promotion project. The project will receive a total investment of 14 billion won from national and local funds between November 2022 and October 2023.
The Hydrogen Ship Technology Center facility office in Uam-dong, scheduled to open in June 2023, will include specialized data facilities for the design, shipbuilding, and operation demonstration of hydrogen ships. These facilities will be a databank as a platform operating basis, including governance building and data standardization.
This project aims to establish the world's first public contributing databank that collects, processes and distributes all information related to hydrogen ship technology. The databank will play a critical role in developing a master plan for constructing hydrogen ports that serve as home ports for hydrogen ships and promoting the activation of hydrogen ships.
Director Jae-Myung Lee explains, "We will develop a software platform to complement the hardware platform utilizing test facilities at Pusan National University." He added that the platform is expected to connect advanced manufacturing technology for hydrogen ships with the data-based fourth industrial revolution.
