Increased expectations for hydrogen vessels due to strengthening International Maritime Organization regulations

Iljin Hysolus Co., Ltd. (CEO Hong-sang Ahn), an eco-friendly hydrogen fuel storage solution affiliate of Iljin Group, announced on the 2nd that it had signed an MOU with Samsung Heavy Industries for joint development of hydrogen ships.

In this MOU signing ceremony, seven hydrogen industry-related companies including Iljin Hysolus and Professor Jae-myung Lee of Pusan National University participated in the signing of an MOU for the development of a hydrogen fuel cell ship.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) regulations due to global warming are being applied in earnest to ships following automobiles.

In particular, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has announced a target to reduce ship emissions by 40% by 2030, and will implement strong regulations accordingly.
