Pusan National University's Hydrogen Ship Technology Center and Gangwon Technopark's Energy Disaster Prevention Support Center have signed a business agreement to collaborate and contribute to renewing the hydrogen economy in Korea.

 

The agreement will focus on utilizing hydrogen ship infrastructure, promoting the Liquefied Hydrogen Reliability Evaluation Center project, and collaborating on hydrogen industry business planning. Jae-Myung Lee, the Hydrogen Ship Technology Center director, and Jae-Seok Yoo, Gangwon Technopark's Energy Disaster Prevention Support Center director, agree that the two institutions will collaborate to advance equipment reliability evaluation facilities of hydrogen ships.

 

One of the main goals of the agreement is to build a liquefied hydrogen reliability evaluation center, utilizing the infrastructure and foundation of both institutions. This center will play an essential role in the full-cycle ecosystem of hydrogen industry production, storage, and utilization stages, from technology development to commercialization.

 

The Pusan National University Hydrogen Ship Technology Center is the first hydrogen ship technical research institute located at a university in Korea. The center is currently building performance evaluation facilities and infrastructure for various hydrogen ship-related equipment and promoting the development of eco-friendly ships for marine waste disposal and demonstration.

 

Gangwon Province and Gangwon Techno Park are also trying to stimulate the hydrogen industry based on the Samcheok Hydrogen Refueling Station Production Base built in 2022. The two institutions aim to advance the hydrogen economy in Korea further and contribute to the global effort to reduce carbon emissions.
