The "Marine Liquid Hydrogen Fuel Tank" jointly developed by Pusan National University's Hydrogen Ship Technology Center and Samwoo MCP has been awarded an AIP certificate by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), certifying its safety and design suitability.

 

The "ABS’ AIP Conferment Ceremony" held at the BK Lounge of Pusan National University on September 20 was attended by Jae-myung Lee, director of the Hydrogen Ship Technology Center at Pusan National University, Oh-kyun Shin, CEO of Samwoo MCP, and Darren Leskoski, Far East Asia representative of American Bureau of Shipping.

 

This fuel tank is for storing liquid hydrogen between the inner and outer tanks,. And applies a technology that can minimise heat transfer to the inside of the tank by placing low-density foam and thin-film multilayer insulation materials and creating a vacuum environment. In addition, the tank is designed to maintain insulation performance even when the vacuum is released at a certain level, securing safety against internal pressure rise.
