[1.3.2] Bottom financial quintile student success 2023 Graduation/completion targets for students who fall into the bottom 20% of household income group (or a more tightly defined target in the country) |
Pusan National University (PNU) has created a <2023-2027 PNU Long-term Development Plan>
to alleviate tuition burdens and to implement psychological counseling programs while setting a maximum
annual dropout rate.
For 2023, the dropout rate was set at 4.57%, ensuring that over 95.43% of students remained enrolled.
The tuition burden reduction target for undergraduates was 65.20%, and the goal for psychological counseling participation was 12,853 students.
This plan aims to support low-income students in focusing on their education without financial stress.
Additionally, PNU identifies low-income students as scholarship recipients through its scholarship regulations and
scholarship selection guidelines.
Scholarship recipients are chosen annually based on living costs and health insurance standards.
- Under the PNU Scholarship Regulations, recipients are those "in financial difficulty" or "eligible for educational protection"
as defined by law.
- The PNU Scholarship Selection Guidelines specify recipients as students from families living on welfare, graduate students
in economic hardship, and scholarship or research assistants facing financial challenges."
