[1.3.1.] Bottom financial quintile admission target

Targets to admit students who fall into the bottom 20% of household income group (or a more tightly defined target) in the country.

Pusan National University(PNU) operates admissions programs to enroll students from economically vulnerable backgrounds, including households in the bottom 20% income bracket. Key 2024 programs include:

1. Low Income Talents Admission Track: Targets Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam do residents who are beneficiaries, recipients, or near poor households under the Korea National Basic Livelihood Security Act. The track aims to expand higher education access for economically disadvantaged students, including those in the bottom 20% income bracket.

2. Comprehensive Record Social Integration Admission Track I: Targets applicants defined as “beneficiaries, recipients, and near-poor households under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, and beneficiaries under the Single-Parent Family Support Act of Korea (including students unable to receive support from parents).”

3. Comprehensive Record Social Integration Admission Track II: Targets individuals eligible for admission to child welfare facilities as defined by the Child Welfare Act of Korea (including students separated from guardians).

The 2024 enrollment target for low income and socially disadvantaged students was 301.

The Social Integration Admission tracks waive the CSAT minimum requirement and application fees to ease burdens on vulnerable applicants. PNU provides an online admissions counseling portal on the Admissions Office website and shares admissions track information via social media, enabling low income and socially disadvantaged students to access admissions information without economic barriers.
