[2.5.4.] Sustainable food purchases Prioritise purchase of products from local, sustainable sources |
In accordance with the "Act on Promotion of Purchase of Green Products," Pusan National University(PNU) prioritizes
the purchase of local products and sustainable foods through the Mandatory Green Product (Food) Purchase System
and the Regional Product Preferential Purchase System for public institutions.
1. Under this mandatory system, PNU requires the procurement of green products, such as products with environmental
labels or low-carbon certifications.
PNU also reports annually on its green product purchases to develop strategies for increasing purchase rates.
- Environmentally labeled products have better environmental attributes throughout their lifecycle, including fewer hazardous
substances, safety for humans, energy savings, and water conservation.
- Low-carbon products are those with lower greenhouse gas emissions and certified environmental claims.
