Provide events for local farmers and food producers to connect and transfer knowledge

Pusan National University(PNU) organizes festivals, exhibitions, and volunteer activities to share sustainable agricultural technologies and information with local farmers and food producers, strengthening networks among key SDG2 participants: universities, local farmers, agriculture-related institutions, and consumers.

1. In 2024 PNU hosted the 12th Hyowon Green Farm Festival under the theme “Finding a Path Forward Together: Region and University.” The event brought together members from the College of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Miryang City’s Sixth Industry Division, K-water, and the Miryang Livestock Cooperative, and local farmers. It featured capstone design exhibitions on sustainable agricultural technologies, lab tours, and promotions of premium agricultural products. Agricultural development institutions, including the Gyeongnam Agricultural Human Resources Management Institute, also shared smart-farm information with attendees.

2. PNU runs student volunteer programs in which students teach agricultural technologies aligned with their majors or provide labor support to small farms. In 2024, faculty and students from the Dept. of Plant Biosciences delivered training on smart-farm technology and eco-friendly agriculture in Mongolia. 

The agricultural club “Pulnaeum” assisted with apple thinning and harvesting in Andong, and the “Firefly” volunteer club from the College of Nanoscience and Nanoscience and Nanotechnology participated in rural labor support activities promoting urban-rural cooperation.

3. PNU's affiliated farm offers free agricultural education for local farmers and citizens. In 2024 it hosted activities such as blackberry-picking experiences and agricultural tool training, increasing local interest in sustainable agriculture.
