[2.5.4.] Sustainable food purchases
Prioritise purchase of products from local, sustainable sources
1. Pusan National University(PNU) procures food ingredients for campus dining facilities from small business owners and locally based companies to promote local agricultural products and support small-scale producers. PNU also mandates purchase of green products (environmentally labeled, low-carbon, etc.) for items such as cafeteria utensils in accrodance with the Act on the Promotion of Green Product Purchases.

2. For free meal events, PNU sources ingredients from local agriculture and sustainable farming. In 2024 PNU held a breakfast event using supplies from local agricultural cooperatives and signed an agreement with the Miryang Agricultural Cooperative to prioritize Miryang-grown rice for campus cafeterias. At the 14th Hyowon Green Farm Festival, organically grown produce from PNU's affilated farm was distributed to campus members and citizens.

3. The PNU Coop(a consumer life cooperative) emphasizes environmental and ecosystem preservation and supplies members with sustainable, fresh food.
