[8.2.2.] Employment practice unions
Recognise unions for all, including women and international staff
Pusan National University(PNU) recognizes labor unions to ensure all employees, including women and foreign nationals, enjoy equal labor rights and may negotiate working conditions. The university complies with the Labor Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act and concludes collective agreements through negotiations with diverse employee groups, including university contract staff, janitorial staff, and non-regular faculty. Collective agreements newly drafted or effective in 2024 explicitly guarantee all employees the right to participate in union activities.
Representative provisions ensuring the right to union participation for all employees, including women and foreign nationals:
1. Article 7 (Guarantee of Union Activities) under the PNU Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Contract Staff: The university guarantees members’ freedom to engage in union activities, will not interfere with union operations, and will not subject members to disadvantageous treatment for participating in union activities.
2. Article 6 (Guarantee of Union Activities) under the PNU Collective Agreement with Korea Non-Regular Professors’ Labor Union: The university guarantees members’ freedom to engage in union activities and will not impose disadvantages related to legitimate union activities.
3. Article 7 (Guarantee of Union Activities) under the PNU Collective Agreement for Janitorial Staff: The university guarantees members’ freedom to engage in legitimate union activities and will not subject them to disadvantageous treatment based on their participation in union activities.
