Have a policy commitment against forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking and child labour

Pusan National University(PNU) strictly complies with the Korea Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Labor Standards Act (partially revised in 2024) to guarantee human dignity and protect workers’ rights. The university’s collective bargaining agreements and employment rules prohibit forced labor, labor exploitation, human trafficking, and child labor.

1. The 2024 Collective Agreement for University Contract Staff specifies lawful wage payment, limits on maximum weekly working hours, guaranteed rest periods, and mandatory overtime premiums. The PNU Employment Rules prohibit the hiring of children under 15 and the assignment of pregnant workers or youth to hazardous duties, in accordance with the Labor Standards Act.

2. Improving work-life balance is included in PNU’s mid?to?long?term development plan and key initiatives, with targets to reduce working hours and ensure annual leave usage. In 2024 PNU monitored progress through development plan performance evaluations and the PNU president’s key task reports and conducted a self?assessment of compliance with the Labor Standards Act and measures to prevent employee exploitation.
