Provide affordable housing for employees

1. Pusan National University(PNU) provides housing for faculty and staff at a low cost under its housing support standards, the Sangnam International Hall usage plan, and guidelines for foreign visiting professors. The on campus options-Sangnam International Hall and campus dormitories-are university operated; residents pay a monthly fee of approximately 100,000 KRW (70 USD). 

In 2024 this fee represented about 4.9% of the minimum monthly faculty/staff salary (2.74 million KRW, 1,915 USD), well below the 16.8% national housing rent burden ratio and the 2024 Busan average monthly rent of 430,000 KRW (300 USD), substantially lowering employees’ housing costs.

2. Under its guidelines for foreign visiting professors, PNU provides housing subsidies for foreign faculty in off campus accommodations and conducts regular surveys of faculty housing use to ensure subsidy coverage.

3. PNU participates in housing programs with the Government Employees Pension Service and the Korean Teachers’ Credit Union, allowing faculty and staff to access rental housing or apply for housing lease loans as needed.
