[11.4.8.] Planning development - new build standards
Build new buildings to sustainable standards
Pusan National University(PNU) complies with sustainable building standards-covering green building certification, energy efficiency ratings, and zero-energy building standards-per the “Act on the Promotion of Green Buildings,” to reduce environmental impact in all new campus construction.

1. In December 2024, PNU received Green Building Certification (G-SEED) for the new building of the College of Information and Biomedical Engineering. This certification assesses energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction during design, construction, and maintenance, demonstrating the university’s commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable building practices.
2. PNU also earned Energy Efficiency Grade Certification and Zero Energy Building Certification for the new building of the College of Information and Biomedical Engineering. These systems evaluate energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, and energy self-sufficiency. Additionally, the Advanced Science Hall has been recognized with Green Building and Energy Efficiency Grade Certifications, valid until 2028, for applying sustainable standards.

3. As part of its mid-to-long-term strategic plan, “Creating a Safe and Environmentally Friendly Campus Environment,” the Facilities Management Office developed the “2024 Energy Conservation Promotion Plan.” This plan emphasizes energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, including the installation of renewable energy facilities and energy storage systems (ESS).
