[12.2.8.] Minimisation policies extended to suppliers Ensuring these policies extend to outsourced suppliers and the supply chain - (for example suppliers of equipment, stationery, building contracts) |
Pusan National University(PNU) has developed a plan for a carbon-neutral campus and follows the 'Guidelines for Reducing the
Use of Single-Use Disposables in Public Institutions' to minimize single-use products through various policies.
This initiative applies to university members, vendors, and suppliers of equipment, stationery, and construction services.
1. Ban on Single-Use Cups in Cafes
PNU aims to reduce plastic waste in its cafes by banning single-use cups and promoting reusable alternatives, encouraging
a shift in consumer habits.
2. Ban on Plastic Bags in Canteens
Campus canteens are working to cut down on plastic waste by prohibiting plastic bags. This regulation supports the use of
alternatives like shopping carts.
3. Compliance with the Industrial Standardization Act
PNU mandates that suppliers of office supplies, food, and equipment comply with the packaging standards of the Industrial
Standardization Act. They must use recyclable packaging and minimize waste generation.
