[12.2.1.] Ethical sourcing policy 2024

1. Pusan National University (PNU) complies with the Act on the Promotion of Purchase of Green Products, enacted by the Korean Ministry of Environment, by prioritizing low-carbon and other green products in its procurement processes. Additionally, PNU sets annual targets for purchases from small and medium-sized, women-owned, and disabled-owned businesses to promote social value and environmental responsibility.

2. Under the Contracts to Which the State Is a Party Act, PNU procures food ingredients through public bidding restricted to “small enterprises” or “locally based companies.” This approach aims to increase incomes for local smallholders, revitalize the regional economy, and reduce environmental costs by shortening distribution channels.

3. To further support the local economy, PNU disburses 10% of employee welfare benefits as Onnuri gift certificates, which are local prepaid gift cards issued by municipalities or local governments.

4. PNU has established the “2024 Energy Conservation Promotion Plan” to prioritize the purchase of high-efficiency energy-saving products. In 2024, the university also installed solar power facilities as part of its energy conservation policy and required contractors to uphold labor rights and environmental protection, such as appointing a safety manager and lawfully disposing of wastewater and waste.
