[12.2.4.] Policy waste disposal - landfill policy 2024
1. Pusan National University(PNU) established the "2024 Waste Collection and Disposal Plan" to ensure the legal management and processing of campus waste. Under this plan, PNU collects and processes all waste at least five times per week through a specialized waste management company. The company is required to adhere to principles such as minimizing waste volume, prioritizing recycling, and providing transparent reports on landfill amounts and recycling rates.
In 2024, PNU contracted a recycling-focused waste management company and recorded data on waste generation, landfill disposal, and recycling rates, adding this information transparently to the Allbaro System, a digital platform used in South Korea for reporting and managing animal-related services.

2. Based on the "Environmental Maintenance Plan for the Start of the Semester," established in 2024, PNU conducted thorough inspections of waste accumulation around campus buildings to prevent illegal waste disposal. The university also provided staff and students with guidance on appropriate waste disposal locations and methods and promoted a free collection service for waste appliances to increase recycling rates and decrease landfill volumes.

3. Additionally, PNU actively promotes waste recycling to minimize landfill disposal, ensuring proper segregation by providing separate collection bins on every floor of its buildings. The university encourages participation in recycling by installing IoT-enabled recycling bins in high-traffic areas, such as the athletic field, further enhancing recycling efforts.
