[12.2.6.] Policy for minimisation of disposable items 2024

1. In accordance with the “Carbon Neutral Green Campus Strategy” established in 2021, PNU updates its carbon neutrality policies annually to provide ongoing guidance on reducing single-use items and addressing rapidly evolving environmental concerns. The “2024 Carbon Neutral Green Campus Implementation Guidelines” include measures such as avoiding single-use cups and wet wipes, promoting the use of personal cups, and reducing paper consumption during printing.

2. PNU has introduced and operated the Smart Attendance System, a paperless attendance solution designed to reduce disposable consumables in education and research. It has implemented an electronic approval system for research fund expenditures to minimize paper use during transaction processing. In 2024, PNU launched an “Electronic Research Notebook” system that allows experiments to be recorded digitally without paper. The library has expanded its e-book lending services to further diminish paper resource consumption. Additionally, in May 2024, PNU distributed a manual on electronic approvals and viewing meeting materials via tablets, fostering a digital and paperless meeting culture campus-wide.

3. Furthermore, in 2024, PNU actively promoted the reduction of disposable items by issuing an official notice titled "Practice Instructions for Reducing Single-Use Items (Plastic Goods, Plastic Bags, Plastic Umbrellas, etc.)" and sharing informational card news on "The Environmental Impact of Paper." To support this initiative, eco-friendly umbrella rainwater removers and tumbler washers were installed across campus to encourage the daily avoidance of single-use items.
