[12.2.7.] Disposable policy: extensions to services 2024
1. The PNU Coop (a consumer life cooperative) offers food and beverage services on campus, prioritizing environmental and ecological conservation in accordance with its articles of incorporation. In July 2024, the Coop-operated campus caf?, “Woonjookjung,” signed agreements with Geumjeong-gu District, Busan City, and the eco-friendly company Greenup to encourage the use of “E-cups,” reusable cups made from environmentally friendly materials. Customers returning their E-Cups after use receive carbon neutrality points. Additionally, in 2024, Woonjookjung replaced all takeout items with recyclable and biodegradable packaging.

2. Caf? Soom, the designated workplace for persons with disabilities on campus, offers discounts to customers using tumblers instead of disposable cups. The caf? has installed tumbler washers and recycling bins nearby to further minimize single-use items.

3. Furthermore, in August 2024, the PNU General Affairs Division distributed an official notice titled “Practical Instructions for Regulations on Single-Use Item Usage and Reducing Single-Use Items in Public Institutions” across campus. The notice emphasizes the obligation to limit disposable items at cafes, restaurants, and other campus establishments. All campus restaurants use reusable tableware and cups instead of disposables, and water cups are provided for water purifiers to further minimize the use of single-use items.
