Have dedicated courses (full degrees, or electives) that address sustainability and the SDGs

Pusan National University(PNU) offers specialized degree programs to enable students to explore sustainability deeply and become experts in social and environmental problem?solving.

1. The Dept. of Integrated Climate System Science at PNU Graduate School provides education and research in integrated climate system science. Courses span atmospheric science, oceanography, and climate physics to train the next generation of interdisciplinary climate scientists. Key 2024 courses include “Climate Change Science” by Professor June?yi Lee (lead author, IPCC Sixth Assessment Report) and “Climate Crisis and Carbon Neutrality” by Professor Kyung?ja Ha.

2. PNU operates a major in International Educational Development Cooperation to cultivate experts in international education and development. 2024 courses included “The Global Era and International Cooperation” and “Northeast Asian Order and International Cooperation.”

3. The Graduate School of Convergence for Clean Energy - Integrated Power Generation - aims to train convergence talent for carbon neutrality. In collaboration with the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and of Nano Convergence Technology, the program offers courses such as “Renewable Energy and Sustainability Engineering” and “Advanced Energy Convergence Process Technology.”

4. The Dept. of Environmental Engineering, established in 1984 to produce professionals who address pollution from mass production and consumption, offered 2024 courses including “Solid Waste Engineering,” “Environmental Creative Project,” and “Environmental Engineering Air Laboratory.”

5. PNU also offers additional SDG?focused programs, including the Women’s Studies major and the EES Convergence major.
