2020 PNU Summer School provides international students with an enriching cultural and educational experience through participation Session A from June 30 to July 22 and Session B from July 23 to August 11. Each program consists of academic courses covering diverse subjects and various cultural activities, including field trips. Students can choose one session according to their schedules, preferences and academic goals.
SESSION A
June 30 – July 22, 2020
Session A offers intensive courses on academic subjects(3 credits), Korean Studies(3 credits, Mandatory) includes Korean language, lecture for understanding Korean culture, fun cultural activities and field trips. Session A includes informing academic lectures which are three hours daily from Monday through Thursday(or Friday) and interesting cultural activities with a field trips on Friday(Saturday). Each of academic lectures carry 3 credits, and participants can choose up to one of academic contents. Official transcripts are issued to students who complete the courses. Courses are graded from A+ to F. Students wishing to transfer credits need to obtain pre-approval from their home universities. Courses may be added to the list below or cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.

Korean Cinema and Filmmaking

The course will address modern Korean history through in depth discussions on Korea’s rapid economic development, political history, and cultural milieu. Students will be exposed to the film production process in Korea along with gain an understanding of intended messages in major Korean cinematic works. This course will consist of lectures, screenings, student group presentations, and discussions. NO PREREQUISITES REQUIRED: Background in filmmaking is not necessary for this course. All filmmaking terms and topics will be introduced and explained as necessary. *Films shown in class

The course looks at various countries and their leaders around the world and relates how their issues and political decisions affect other regions and countries, as well as you as individuals. We will also take a look at South Korea and see how its location and maritime links have helped it develop. This course takes a fresh look at international relations, making it suitable for anyone with or without political knowledge.

It is intended to help students prepare for 100 year-lasting human life in near future.
