2021 PNU Online Summer School provides international students with an enriching cultural and educational experience through participation Academic course and Korean Studies from July 8 to July 29. Each courses covering diverse subjects and various cultural activities, including field trips. Students can choose one course according to their preferences and academic goals. Certificate of PNU Summer School and transcript will be issued.

Introduction to Hallyu: Contemporary Korean Film, Drama and Popular Culture

This course aims to help students to understand the contemporary Hallyu, especially from the South Korean film, broadcasting and cultural renaissance of the 1990s-2000s to the more recent mega-hits showcasing its versatility in global context. The course will be of interest to anyone concerned with national identity, memory and popular culture and it demonstrates how K-cinema, drama and K-culture reorient our understanding of different cultures and national context.

This course will explore the broad spectrum of Korean culture with 4 areas: Understanding Korea culture, Korean language, cultural experiences, field trips. Lectures cover a wide range of cultural contents including history, myth, art and language. Students will gain not only a deep understanding and perspective of contemporary Korean cultural phenomena but also basic and useful skills for Korean language. Furthermore, various kinds of cultural experiences and field trips help understanding of Korean culture as well as provide amazing memories.
