- This study is concerned with the nonlinear interaction between a spark-generated underwater explosion bubble and a free surface. The numerical method is based on a fully compressible three-phase mixture model coupled with solving two interface advection equations. A good agreement with experimental data is obtained including bubble and free surface shapes. The essential physical features in the experiment are well captured regarding jet formation, bubble splitting, and the first and the secondary surface spikes behaviors. Additionally, the influences of the distance standoff parameter on the free surface evolution behaviors are investigated.
