Welcome to Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Pusan National University.
Founded in 1950, we pursue the value to become “the future of naval architecture and shipbuilding industries” for the national economy. Over the last 70 years, we have constantly growing and provided marine technology expertise(approximately 3,229 alumni) throughout Korea and the world.
Along with the top-class researchers and passionate students, we have taken in many different research projects and networks including key international organizations and ship-building companies. That’s why we has quickly responded on the recent challenges in the maritime industry.
Thanks to the efforts and support, our students after graduation have challenged careers to contribute to the maritime and ship-building industries worldwide. In 2017, the employment rates of undergraduate and graduate schools reached 47.9% and 58.5%, respectively, one of the highest in the country.
Our researchers also participate in large-scale government-led research projects such as Global Core Research Center in Ships ＆ offshore plants(GCRC), The Korea Ship and Offshore Research Institute, Brain Korea 21 Plus, CK-1, Korea-UK Offshore Technology Training Institute, Maritime Industry Retirees Training Institute.
We are one of the most biggest single department for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in Korea with about 14 faculties, 6 staff members, 313 undergraduate students and 120 graduate students in 2022.
We will enhance competitiveness to be a world-leading department, by supporting research focusing on the latest industry trends, attracting top-class research professionals, investing for state-of-the-art facilities, performing joint research with domestic & foreign research institutes for nurturing future global leader. We will exert our best efforts to emerge as the best department in the marine engineering and shipbuilding areas throughout Asia, and the world.
Please continue to watch the development of the department that contributes to industrial development and leads the production of excellent human resources, the department that ranks with the world's leading shipbuilding and marine engineering departments, and send your continued support and support.
