- The induction range is a domestic cooking appliance that uses the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction heating, in which a magnetic field generates an eddy current in a conductive vessel. For research and development of the induction range, it is necessary to predict the output power through electromagnetic simulation, but it takes a lot of time and cost to perform all electric circuit, electromagnetic and thermal analysis for the entire operating time. Using the time-harmonic finite element simulation, it is possible to effectively predict the output of the induction range by analyzing only one period. However, since the input current of the induction range supplied from the inverter is not a perfectly sinusoidal wave, the simulation results are subject to significant errors. Therefore, in this paper, correction factors are defined to compensate for errors caused by non-sinusoidal current waveforms in time-harmonic finite element analysis. The proposed method is verified through the process of estimating the output power of four induction ranges through simulations and experiments.
