Introduction
The Department of Plastic Arts aims to generate talents with a professional level of capability through creative and unique plastic arts education, who are rooted in our traditional values yet can thrive in the rapidly-changing society of today.
The department encourages students to acquire the skills and theoretical knowledge demanded of artists and experts through artistic experience in both traditional and modern plastic arts.
The department has three majors, including Ceramic Art, Fiber &Metal Art, and Furniture &Wood Working, and a graduate program. Students develop creative and unique ways of expression through systematic theoretical education, experiments, and practice by subject, and gain an artistic sensibility that is in tune with the needs of the time.

The Ceramic Art Major aims to nurture the ceramic artists who will lead the modern plastic arts of the 21st century, and contribute to academic development based on broad artistic experience of traditional and modern ceramic art.
Furniture & Wood Working Major
The Furniture &Wood Working Major aims to develop plastic artists with active and creative minds and excellent woodworking skills. Students of the major develop the capability to create cutting-edge furniture and lead contemporary woodworking culture by adding modern artistic sensibilities to traditional values.
Fiber & Metal Arts Major
The Fiber &Metal Arts Major aims to train talented individuals who will lead the fields of fiber and metal arts through education and practice in fiber and metal art theory, materials, and expressive techniques. Students of the department develop their artistic abilities based on a thorough understanding of artistic expression through fiber and metal. Graduates of the department serve as instructors, artists, and designers who are leading the fiber and metal arts industries.
