The Department of English Language Education in Pusan National University’s College of Education was established in 1969, May 1st and separated in 1982 May 1st through the department reform.
The purposes of the programs in English Education Department is to deepen and stimulate academic and research activities and to apply the activities in real classroom situation through the harmonious grafting of recent theoretical and practical trends in English Education, in Linguistics, and English Literature, and English Education, based on the principles of Truth, Liberty and Service in Pusan National University’s College of Education.
To accomplish these purposes, the Department of English Education not only fostering the professionals and scholars but also leading the development of educational theories in secondary education by constant research.

The Subject of Study
English education is an applied study that systematically researches various teaching methods and learning processes to enhance communication skills of English. It is not a basic study or basic science that is merely a pursuit of pure theory, but an application that practices the theory through this study. The English education department learns and utilizes practical and effective teaching methods of the English department by acquiring specialized knowledge about the English subject in the major areas of English studies, English literature, and English education. In addition, we study the overall research flow of English textbook education and have a continuous interest and understanding of English textbook related education sites.
Careers after Graduation
The successful graduates of English Education will assume their roles as teachers and leaders who actively participate in the field of English education. Those who are passionate in pursuing their intellectual goals as professionals can apply for graduate courses and further their academic career in the areas of English language, English literature and English education as researchers and specialists in the fields.

We implements a plan in connection with the university development plan to improve the employment rate of students through on-site customized curricula and practical classes and maximize the abilities of professors and students.

A Short-Term Development Plan
Curriculum: Continuous Improvement
*Assessment and analysis for operation and improvement of curriculum, improvement through continuous curricula, and establishment of a link between curriculum and education field.
* To improve the quality of classes, increases the division of working-level classes such as conversation and composition.
Faculties: Reinforcement of Competence, Responsibility, and English Lecture
*Creating a research environment, recommending domestic and international academic presentations and expanding financial support, strengthening individual counseling and guidance, and extending English courses.
Students: Expanding capacity, Organizing, and Volunteering
*Offers special lectures to raise acceptance rate, holds a seminar for the appointment season, and introduces a meeting by grade.
*Builds study group for systematic preparation of national exams.
*Fostering haracter through volunteer activities - Mentoring, university student teacher system, education service, overseas research exchange, and participation in volunteer work overseas.
