Welcome to the Department of Oceanography at Pusan National University!
Established in 1985, our department proudly celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Over the past four decades, we have been at the forefront of oceanographic research and education, making significant contributions to the advancement of marine sciences both in Korea and internationally. Our dedicated faculty of nine professors guides approximately 200 undergraduate and 70 graduate students in exploring critical ocean-related issues, including coastal and estuarine pollution, polar exploration, deep-ocean studies, climate change, and marine mineral resources.
As an active participant in the BK21 program, we are committed to fostering innovative and highly skilled professionals who will lead the future of ocean sciences. Located in Busan, Korea maritime capital, our department is poised to play a key role in advancing cutting-edge marine research and education. We remain dedicated to expanding our academic and research programs to address the challenges and opportunities in the field of oceanography.
