Introduction: Dept. of Oceanography
The Department of Oceanography studies and explores the history and phenomena of the Earth by taking a comprehensive approach to the natural phenomena occurring in the ocean, on the ocean floor and seashore, and the interactions among the various natural phenomena. Oceanography in its modern sense began with the great exploration by the Challenger. It became a multi-dimensional area of study based on the development of natural sciences and engineering in the 20th century, and represents the convergence of many fields of study, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geology, as well as Atmospheric Science and Ocean Engineering. On this basis, the study of Oceanography was developed, which adopts a comprehensive and integrated perspective that considers the ocean as a single system to understand all of the phenomena of the Earth and the ocean.
