Physical Education

The Department of Physical Education aims to developcapable physical education teachers and experts who can contribute tothe development of the nation through courses on the theory and practiceof physical education. The department established the PhysicalEducation Major at the Graduate School of Education in 1980 for there-education of teachers, and established the Master’s degree programat general graduate schools in 1982 to build an academic and researchfoundation. In 1988, the department established the Doctorate program atgeneral graduate schools, fortifying its position as the leader ofphysical education in the Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do areas. In 1984,the department established the Research Institute of Physical Educationand Sport Science, with the aim of promoting physical education throughthe scientific research of sports, and improving the athletic performanceand physical health of the public.

The department has improvedits educational efficiency with the largest faculty of any of thesports-related departments in domestic universities, and has made theutmost effort to emerge as a research-centric department throughthe development of capable professionals.
