The Research Institute of Mechanical Technology, PNU (RIMT) was established as a statutory university-affiliated research institute on July 20, 1978, following its official approval by Presidential Decree on August 30, 1977. Since its founding, RIMT has consistently pursued both quantitative and qualitative growth, serving as a creative hub for research, education, and industry-academic collaboration in the field of mechanical technology. In 2025, the Institute proudly celebrates its 40th anniversary.
In 1988, RIMT secured a dedicated research building with a total floor area of 5,000 square meters, comprising one basement and four above-ground floors. It currently operates 17 specialized laboratories staffed by 90 full-time researchers. Additionally, RIMT runs two graduate programs — the LG Joint Graduate Program and the Small and Medium Business Administration Contract Department — and oversees six specialized and advanced research centers, establishing a strong foundation for focused research and education.
Building on these achievements, RIMT is committed to redefining the role of university research centers in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It aims to strengthen collaboration with regional industries and lead cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research initiatives.
We warmly welcome your continued guidance, support, and collaboration as we strive toward a new phase of innovation and excellence at RIMT.
