To foster globally competitive nursing professionals who lead the academic advancement of nursing and the professionalization of nursing practice in a knowledge-based society.

Educational Goal

Based on the educational philosophy of Pusan National University—truth, freedom, and service—and the spirit of respect for human dignity, the purpose is to cultivate scientific and professional nursing knowledge and skills, establish therapeutic relationships with care recipients, and nurture nurses with global competencies who can maximize the well-being of individuals.

Educational Objectives

1. Establish holistic nursing thinking by integrating the physical, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual aspects of nursing clients.
2. Develop critical thinking skills necessary for solving health-related problems.
3. Establish ethical standards and a professional identity as a nursing professional.
4. Cultivate the ability to collaborate and coordinate with healthcare professionals.

Program Outcomes

For students admitted in or after the 2023 academic year:

1. Integrate knowledge from nursing and various academic disciplines into nursing practice.
2. Apply appropriate nursing processes to patients through clinical reasoning.
3. Manage population health within national and international healthcare systems.
4. Perform nursing based on professional standards, healthcare-related laws, and ethics.
5. Deliver appropriate nursing care using principles of safety and quality improvement.
6. Collaborate with healthcare teams to promote health and resolve health issues of patients.
7. Develop leadership skills for personal and professional growth.
8. Utilize information and communication technologies and the latest healthcare innovations in nursing practice and research.

For students admitted between the 2020 and 2022 academic years:

1. Apply nursing skills comprehensively based on liberal arts and major-specific knowledge.
2. Perform essential basic nursing skills tailored to the patient's condition.
3. Apply therapeutic communication techniques with nursing clients.
4. Implement the nursing process and clinical reasoning based on critical thinking.
5. Understand and integrate legal and ethical standards of nursing into professional practice.
6. Understand interdisciplinary collaboration and explain the importance of coordination within the healthcare team.
7. Understand principles of nursing leadership and demonstrate leadership skills.
8. Plan and conduct nursing research.
